About Continent of Africa



Human species, modern human from early apelike humans originated in this Continent named Africa is the oldest inhabited land on the world. Approximately 150 -100 thousand years ago, after evolution of homo sapiens, there were only groups of hunter-gatherers here.  A fastest growing Continent of Africa, surrounded by the Indian Ocean to the southeast, Atlantic Ocean to the west, the Mediterranean Sea to the north, and Suez Canal, the Red Sea and the Sinai Peninsula to the north east has 1.111 billion people (2013) and 1.166 billion would be estimated in 2015. And 54 UN official countries, 9 territories with controversial South Sudan and Western Sudan states whereas land area is 30,221,532 sq. kilometer and population density is 36.4 per sq. kilometer.
Fifty four countries in the Continent of Africa are as follows: Algeria, Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cabo Verde, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Congo, Republic of the, Congo, Democratic Republic of the, Cote d'Ivoire, Djibouti, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Libya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Mauritius, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Africa, South Sudan, Sudan, Swaziland, Tanzania, Togo, Tunisia, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe.
One of the world’s earliest and longest-lasting civilizations was Pharaonic civilization of Ancient Egypt with the rise of literacy at about 3300 BC in Northern Africa. North-west coast was an independent center of civilization with trading links by Phoenicians. And in 332 BC, there were European explorations with ancient Greeks and Romans. Alexandria, founded by the Great Alexander as a liberator in Persian-occupied Egypt, became the wealthy capital of the Ptolemaic dynasty.
Both the northern and the southern temperature zones are found in the only Continent of Africa where we find 3.5 million square miles of the hottest Sahara desert, tropical climate, savanna grasslands, jungle and even subarctic climates. Over 4,000 miles long the Nile River, second largest lake, largest tropical Lake Victoria, 19,340 feet Mount Kilimanjaro have given the difference to the Continent of Africa.
Economy is the poorest here in this Continent of Africa of the world. Moreover, war, corruption to the government, lack of clean water, ignorance of health with two most destructive diseases HIV and malaria etc. are the notable problems. Over a thousand languages made Africa the highest level of multilingualism in the world with religious and cultural differences.
